After Care Instructions
In order to minimize the risk of possible side effects and complications of injections please follow these simple steps:
Aftercare is essential since a chemical peel removes the outermost surface of your skin. We will send you home with a post-peel kit to take home, helping to minimize your downtime while maximizing your results. During your recovery time, it is best to wash your face with cool water and apply a good moisturizer to add a protective barrier to your skin. Avoid steam rooms, saunas, and strenuous workouts that will make you sweat. The skin should not be exfoliated for 3 – 4 days after the peel.
It is important to avoid sun exposure before and after a Sciton BBL laser treatment. Your skin might experience a sunburn sensation, which usually goes away within a few hours of the treatment. This discomfort can be minimized by placing a cool washcloth on the skin for 10 – 20 minutes at a time. Also, over the counter medication can be taken for the pain if needed. Brown spots will look darker and more pronounced, and might even feel scaly. Do NOT pick at the spots – it is important to let them come off on their own. Avoid using products with Retin-A, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid for 1 week after treatment. A gentle moisturizer should be used twice a day.
After laser treatment, it is best to wait for at least 12 hours before washing your face. Wash with cool water and a gentle cleanser. The skin should be patted dry – don’t rub it harshly with a towel. Avoid hot water, strenuous exercise, and any other activities that promote sweating. Keep the skin moisturized using a healing ointment as recommended by your esthetician. The use of regular skincare products might need to be avoided for a few days after treatment. Talk to us about the specific products that you use for personalized recovery recommendations.
After Botox or filler injections, it is important to avoid touching the treatment area – don’t massage, itch, or pick at the skin. If you are experiencing discomfort, ice packs can be placed on the affected area for relief. Tylenol (acetaminophen) can also be used to manage the pain if needed. Avoid intense heat and exercise for a few days. Don’t drink alcohol. Sunscreen is always recommended, and you can also apply makeup if desired.
